After four years, literally four years, of outrageously blatant and openly acknowledged obstructionism with the goal of making the President fail, the GOP has signalled that it is ready to continue the tactic. They have now introduced the new buzz word, "outreach." Like the lady who asked the life guard where her half-drowned son's hat was, they have the chutzpah to demand "outreach" from President Obama. If you were expecting that after a historic electoral thumping where their candidate was humiliated, where their supporters poured billions of dollars into a campaign that produced little if any tangible results, where poll after poll shows that the People are rejecting the right wing ideological values and policy ideas, they would come crawling back begging for a place at the table in order to maintain some semblance of political self-respect, forget it. No, they had a meeting this time, a "retreat"a day or two ahead of the innauguration, and they talked about their technique for reaching the people who have turned their backs on them. Oh, it's just a matter of semantics, just a little publich relations problem. We just have to learn to talk nice to them. So they were apparently told by their word smiths and messaging gurus. And now we see the first word they were told to use--"outreach." What is it supposed to do? It is supposed to make the President look bad. That is what it is supposed to do.
They haven't learned a thing. It hasn't dawned on them that the reason people don't like conservative Republicans is because they don't like what conservative Republicans believe and they don't like what they do. It isn't about the way they talk or the particular words they choose. It's about they way they hurt people by implementing policies that hurt and blocking policies that help.
